DAVE KLINK - Drums / Vocals Dave Klink, the energetic drummer for the VooDoo Doctors started playing wedding gigs at a young age with a local swing band in Port Huron. In 1962, Dave started his first band "The Continentals" on his own with Port Huron High classmates. This established drummer even had his first Professional Musician's Union at the ripe old age of 15. After college, Dave left on the road to travel the country with the "Ter-Cels" and when in town their local house gig was at The Reef. With the band, Dave's travels took him as far north as Toronto, as far west as the Dakotas, as far east as New York and as far south as Orlando. His lovely wife Karen even traveled with him for three years while the band was on the road. Greg Kobe and Dave have been in the same band for over 30 years. After the "Ter-Cels" Greg and Dave picked up their families from the Great North and moved them all the way down to sunny Daytona Beach, Florida. The move was with a band named Austin and they soon became one of the two house bands on the Strip. After the music scene changed from live music to disco, Greg, Dave and families packed up shop and headed back to Michigan, where Dave joined the band Burnwood. A few years down the road, Greg, Curt Franklin, Dan Hedt and Dave formed Phoenix and played locally until Curt moved on to Colorado. Dave then retired from playing for two years but in 1999, when Dr. Albo Langolf gave him a call to fill in for the VooDoo Doctors New Year's gig, it was an offer Dave couldn't refuse. Little did Dave know that the VooDoo gig would still be going strong. Dave's drumming has taken him to many different venues and experiences from weddings, resorts, cruise ships, Detroit Auto Shows and festivals. Dave Klink has had a taste of the good gig life and is still having a ball doing it. |
